Hi, Folks - Here's a strange story. One of our teachers reported that two of her students using separate laptop computers at separate times were typing answers to research questions in an MS Word document. Suddenly, words started appearing across the screen as though someone else were typing them. She said the messages included abbreviated profanity and some type of intimate story about a man and a woman. She actually saw this happen on one computer and said the student did not have his hands on the keyboard. At first I thought it might be possible that someone at another school had hacked into the network and was sending messages using the Novell messaging tool. But, the teacher said the text was actually entered in the Word document. I know the Malissa virus demonstrates behavior similar to this in Word documents, so I am wondering if this might be some type of nuisance virus. There were three reports from staff members today who said the received screen messages that a virus had been detected in their computers. Also, we do not have any type of security software that allows network administrators to take remote control of workstations, so this can be ruled out. Any ideas?
