My thoughts...

I too have had the same situation develop over the years.  My answer has been to 
order curriclum-enhanced MARC records...you can usually get full contents and lots 
of notes and summaries.  With the addition of the full table of contents and 
extensive notes a keyword search is pretty close to Google.
