Dear LM_NET:
Why are state, federal, even private company grants so complicated?
If you qualify for the poverty level, which our district does; If you
qualify through free lunches, which our district does, then you must come up
with a catchy title, a program that includes students, parents, teachers,
community, experts, etc.
Then you must include items you do not really need and justify their
pertinence.

I always think of Sister Act when Whoopi Goldberg tells the monsignor, "It's
all about getting butts in the seats!"

Why can't these applications just let me say:
Our students' reading levels are alarmingly low.
I need more books to satisfy the student/faculty needs.
I need more books to meet state standards.
Period.

Maybe we need a heading for soapbox.

Thanks for listening.
