I believe that electronic (online) encyclopedias offer better value for
your purchasing dollars if you have adequate access to computers to make
use of them because a) online encyclopedias offer continuously updated
content versus print sets; b) more than one student can use the
encyclopedias at the same time versus print; and c) high school students
do not generally use encyclopedias for research except as a very basic
starting point to gather preliminary information about their topic.
Another added advantage are the additional features many online
encyclopedias offer as well as the number of different sets of
encyclopedias you have access to.  For example, with our Grolier Online
subscription we actually have access to 5 series of encyclopedias.  Don't
