I also do the manila envelope and barcode. We scan, then add name of mag
and issue (Cosmo Girl 4/05) as temporary.

Works for us. We circulate 75-100 a month.

We don't catalog each issue, way too many never circ, others have dozens
in their (what turns out to be ) short lives.

Weed when condition warrants or about a year. All our titles are
recreational. We use Ebsco, eLibrary, ProQuest for research.
