I, too, can't keep myself from chiming in on conversations and helping people find what they need. The worst part of this is I've asked at my local Barnes & Noble about part time work in the summer and have been told they don't hire part timers. So I just go and browse and offer my help. They have employees to do that." And always in that totally embarrassed tone of voice!). How does one turn off "the librarian"??? And do we really want or need to? I always just figured I was being nice and helping. They are subversive. You think they're just sitting there at the desk, all quiet and everything. They're like plotting the revolution, man. I wouldn't mess with them."
