Toni's book review reminds me! If any of you are ever looking for a fanstastic
author visit, check into Bob Barner. He visited our K-4 school a couple years
ago ($1100 at that time plus expenses). He is easy-going and kept the students
spellbound while he drew a skeleton with "Dem Bones" playing in the
background.

He told me during that visit that he was working on a penguin book....and I
received a hand written Christmas card advertising it this year. :) Many of his
titles are published by Chronicle Books; they could not have been nicer to work
with for the author visit book ordering.

ahhhhhhhhhh, I am a fan of all things Bob Barner-related.

> Penguins, Penguins, Everywhere! by Bob Barner (Chronicle,
> 2007). ISBN: 978-0-8118-5664-5
>
> Penguins! There's no denying that they are the "happening" birds
> this year. Happily, Barner's new book will entice the youngest
> readers with its bright, humorous illustrations and its lilting
> rhyming text, extending their learning (plenty of basic facts about
> all kinds of penguins are embedded in those lines) and supporting
> efforts at independent reading: Some penguins live in icy places/and
> some live in the heat./Their colors help them hide/when they fish for
> fishy treats. While the small format makes this more a
> one-reader-at-a-time book, a small group will enjoy a
> read-aloud. Consider reading it to slightly older students
> researching penguins and challenge them to add their own rhyming
> verses embedding their new-found facts. [Suggested ages: 2-6]
