From the NEA News site Arkansas district debuts bookless library system. Arkansas ABC affiliate KHBS-TV (8/12) reported on the Bentonville school district's bookless library system, which, according to Superintendent Gary Compton, "does not have one book in it. It's entirely electronic and can be downloaded to your iPod." Through the system, teachers can also make "a recording of...their lessons that students can download to their iPods or other MP3 players." In addition, the "school district" is "using more digital textbooks and Internet-based books, all changes that can really add up to some savings." Still, "[e]ach classroom also has hard copies of textbooks for students who would rather read and learn that way."
