When I read this story and watched the video online this AM, I was outraged.
However after some thought, I realized that what is going on in this district is
not unique. Please note that you must buy the text book before you can have access
to the CDs or the accompanying websites. They did say that each classroom had a
full set of text books. So someone did pay for the full price of the books.

What bothered me was that there was nothing mentioned about recreational reading.
All they discussed was using the library for research and listening to classroom
lessons.

So I'm guessing that if these high school students want to get a book to read, they
must go to the public library or the local WaMart. After all Bentonville, Arkansas
is the home of WalMart.

Bookless libraries exist on some college campuses. However usually they are one of
many libraries on the campus and the others have sufficient books. An example is a
library at the UT at Austin and another engineering library at Stanford.
