I wholeheartedly agree! There is definitely something pleasurable about curling up in bed or on a recliner with a book that is missing with an ipod or computer. Even though some people think I'm old-fashioned, there are those who find re-reading and highlighting passages much easier with books. (On a lighter note, I once read a quote by baseball player Bernie Williams: Books had instant replay long before televised sports.) “. . .we don’t remember things half as well as books do. But for them we probably wouldn’t know anything for very long. It would all be forgotten. . .” (Cornelia Funke, Inkheart) Basya Karp, Librarian Shulamith High School and Shulamith School For Girls basyak10@hotmail.com > Date: Wed, 13 Aug 2008 14:30:36 -0500> From: DWilliams6856@ATT.NET> Subject: Re: >GEN: Bookless Library> To: LM_NET@LISTSERV.SYR.EDU> > I'm not that fond of the >idea of a "bookless" library, either, for the same> reasons as Marsha. > > Also, >those who are quick readers and must use aids such as highlighters to> slow down >and absorb the material wouldn't do well with nonfiction on an> iPod or computer >screen. > > Donna Williams> May '07 SLIS graduate> University of North Texas> >DWilliams6856@att.net> > > -----Original Message-----> From: School Library Media >& Network Communications> [ -------------------------------------------------------------------- Please note: All LM_NET postings are protected by copyright law.
