I cannot imagine not having Dewey organization in my library. I did, however, move my reference books and interfiled them in the Non-fiction section. It has been over a year now and the circulation and usage is up. It just seemed that the kids rarely used the reference volumes. Now they are all in one place and get regular use. Cross references, which I'm afraid many don't use (too swamped!?), are also essential if we want kids to learn how the real world works and "find information efficiently and effectively."
