With tongue firmly planted in cheek--

Perhaps you should offer to let her select the books that should be banned
for her child, due to the inclusion of the word "stupid".  Get a stack of
post-it notes for her to slap on any book her child should not read because
of language that she knows is in the book.  Once she sees the impossibility
of knowing the words to every page of every book, she might see reason.
