"Elmo" is a brand name and there are lots of 'document cameras' out  
there that are a lot less expensive. We have AverMedia's doc cameras  
in all of our classrooms and library. I find reading a book can be  
cumbersome, but it is a great tool otherwise when I am teaching as I  
can show my work or the students work. Currently I am drawing a map of  
the library with each class and I can label each one with the  
classroom teacher's name so I can refer back to the appropriate map  
for each class.

I don't have a chalk board or white board in the library so this has  
given me lots more use than what I previously could do.
