I'm not sure why the students are sent from classes in your school - but I often have students who are "finished with their work" or have earned "20 minutes of free computer time" for completing "Math Trails". Those kids play internet computer games - it doesn't bother me. In fact I look on it as a compliment that they would rather a library pass than a candy bar. I house the kids who can't participate in holiday programs, kids who can't go to HF, kids who need to finish their work or make up a test and just about any other kid that needs a home. When the heating or the A/C fails I house entire classes that need a home. I also run a "Library Lunch Club for the top 25 4th grade and top 25 5th grade readers - so at noon the library has 50 kids eating, reading, running the circulation desk, chatting and using the computers (and our new iTouches). They take very good care of everything - I've had no vandalism. We're a happening place! And our reading scores are in the high 90s - despite the fact we are ESL, Low SES, Title I, inner city, etc. etc. And I'm in year 20 of my Elementary Library career, year 33 of library career so I'm not a wide eyed newly minted MLS. Try looking at your assorted students as an opportunity to connect as opposed to a horde to babysit. If you've got some lemons try turning them into lemonade. You never know whose life you are touching without realizing it.
