[LM_NET] HIT: suggestions for Family Literacy/Parent Involvement Night

Responses to request for books for Family Literacy/Parent Involvement Night:  

1-Call your high school drama department and see if the students can dress up as 
various story book characters. 
2-Come up with a theme they can dress for.  Little kids love high school kids and 
it will encourage more families to be involved. 
3-Have students select a chapter book which they can start reading with parents and 
then check out to continue reading at home.  Hopefully, the parents will start 
making a habit of reading at home with their child.
4-Sweet Tooth and Piggie Pie by Margie Palentini, Jack the Giant Chaser by Kenn 
Compton, & Stand Tall Molly Lou Melon by Patty Lovell
5-Have AR books available and students can test on them.
